Martlets Fall to LC and Berkshire

The Martlets traveled to Windsor, CT to play a doubleheader against Loomis and Berkshire.  The team was excited to play two matches and the courts had a great deal of positive energy and buzz with three teams on site. Steven Xie ‘26 was able to use a mix of cross courts and strong serves in order to control many of the points and earn himself a 3-1 win at the #7 spot.  Right afterward, Ryan Sohn ‘27 continued the momentum with excellent drop shots and strong drives to keep himself in control of the T despite his opponents excellent drop shots, earning another 3-1 win for the Martlets.  Jason Hu ‘25 also played excellent squash hitting tight rails and expertly moving his opponent around the court to earn another  3-1 win for Westminster. Despite excellent focus and effort from the team, the Martlets fell 4-3 to Berkshire in a very close match.

The team had to weather a quick turnaround and get back on court against an experienced and talented Loomis team. Ben Swift ‘25 and Jason Hu ‘25 personified what it means to be a captain, as they tracked down balls, made smart in-game adjustments, never gave up, and demonstrated excellent sportsmanship throughout their matches. Their drive and effort sparked their teammates to exhibit the same qualities in their matches, and while it wasn’t our day on the courts, I couldn’t have been prouder of the team.
