Martlets Shutout KO

Tonight, the Martlets celebrated their six amazing seniors under the lights on Hovey field! Following a nice ceremony on the field honoring both the Westminster and Kingwood Oxford seniors, the game got under way! About halfway through the first quarter, Hadley Crowther ’25 got the scoring started as a result of skilled individual effort. Not long after, the senior captain would be rewarded a stroke, adding her second of the game, bringing the score to 2-0 Martlets! The seniors continued their scoring streak when Lily Vincent ’25, found herself in the circle and was able to put home the Martlets third of the game. About five minutes into the second quarter, Allysen Whitehead ’25 was in the circle and opted for a reverse hit, making great contact, helping add to the Martlets lead. This wasn’t the last time her reverse hit would help result in a goal for the Martlets! Not long after her goal, Whitehead hit another great ball ,which found Lily Vincent ’25 in front for a beautiful tip, to give Vincent her second of the game! The Martlets would go on to add two more goals in the second half, from Lily Vincent ’25 and Caroline Callen ’26. This game was a step in the right direction for the Martlets! Their ball movement, consistent effort, and energy both on and off the field contributed to the win! We would like to take a moment to thank our incredible senior class- Lucy Wainwright, Mana Shida, Liza Merrill, Lily Vincent, Hadley Crowther, and Allysen Whitehead for everything they have done for this program throughout the years! They have been the glue of our team this year through their leadership, consistency, work ethic, and positivity! It was a great night celebrating the six of them on Hovey field and we look forward to the remainder of the season! Our next matchup is Wednesday October 23rd at 3pm at Sacred Heart!

Our Grit and Grace player of the game is senior Lucy Wainwright ’25! Lucy showed confidence and composure in the back field tonight, as well as energy and positivity that motivated her teammates!
