Martlets Defeat KO

In another close game, the Martlets were able to inch past a scrappy KO team to earn a one-point victory. The Martlets started in a new 2-3 zone, providing a much-needed defense spark. However, the Martlets were slow to score in the first half, which led to a nine-point lead for KO at the half. Going into the third quarter the Martlets regrouped and focused on three key points; rebounding, shot selection, and not fouling on defense. These changes were evident at the start of the second half. Especially lockdown defense by Adam Debele ‘25 and Piper Linden ‘26. The Anderson sister duo Avauni ‘25 and Arielle ‘28 corralled key offensive and defensive rebounds. The Martlets came back thanks to key three-point shots from Suri Dong ‘28 and Emma Isakoff ‘25. Due to great defensive rebounding, the Martlets were able to score quick fast break layups to close the gap as well. Bella Lilien ‘27, led the team with grace as she battled a tough KO backcourt and kept her composure during a close fourth quarter. It was truly a full team effort from all members of the team. The girls who came off the bench entered the game and gave it their all to help their teammates. Small plays by Caitlyn Eaton ‘28 and a key free throw by Callie Graby ‘28 added up throughout the game to help get to a win. The Martlets hope to keep the ball rolling tomorrow against Canterbury.
