Martlets Defeat Williston

After a light day focused on wellness, the Martlets made the trip to Easthampton to take on Williston. From the jump, Westminster looked a little sluggish and allowed their opponent to build an early lead. The black and gold were slow to get back on defense and were out rebounded by the Wildcats, which enabled several second chance opportunities. The Martlets also struggled to contain Williston’s two main offensive scoring threats who combined for 30 of the team’s 36 first half points. One highlight from the first half was Melody El-Amin ‘27 who provided a valuable spark off the bench, elevating our defensive intensity and securing precious rebounds. In the second half, the Martlets were paced by Kaitlyn Buda ‘27 who scored 8 points. Charlotte Tyler ‘28 also got on the board with a nice jump shot and two great steals, and Parker Perillo ‘26 hit a 3-pointer to give Westminster some life. Throughout the game, the Martlets got some good looks from the perimeter, but the rims were not in our favor, so it was an exciting moment to see one go down. Despite today’s disappointing outcome, the Martlets will look to rebound in Saturday’s contest against Miss Porter’s.
