Martlets Fall to Middlesex School

The Martlets started the new year on a positive note as they competed hard in practice and in the weight room. The boys were ready to face out of state opponent Middlesex on a snowy Saturday afternoon. The Martlets started off strong with Ethan Griffin ’26 grabbing rebounds and finishing at the rim. Griffin finished with an impressive 25 points on the night, multiple rebounds and blocks. The first half was a high-speed intense battle between the two sides. Turnovers by the Martlets at the end of the second half gave Middlesex the lead going into halftime. The game continued at a high intense speed for the second half as well. Middlesex was able to capitalize beyond the three-point line with multiple opponents scoring. Nate McCleery ’25 shot the ball well and drove to the hoop aggressively to help the Martlet offense. Cayden Darnowski ’25 also had a great night as he competed hard and helped on both the defensive and offensive side of the ball. The Martlets fought hard until the final buzzer but ultimately came up short with a 54-64 loss to Middlesex. The boys will be ready and eager to face off against Choate this Wednesday in Wallingford, CT.
