The Squash Sisters were pumped up to kick off our 2024-2025 season, with an essential Starbucks pit stop before leaving Simsbury of course. It was the first for many on the team, with a few new faces on the roster and on the coaching front, but it was great to see the returners set a positive tone early and embrace competing hard and having fun. Credit to Taft for having many strong players and for being great hosts. Lots of our games ended up much closer than the final score predicted, many of which got closer from the first game to the last. The MVP was one of the rookies, Wynne Prichett ‘28. She admitted to being nervous, got a little down early, then rattled off three games in a row for the solo Westminster victory! Her teammates, coaches, and even opponents were entertained and happy with the contest–true Martlet fashion. Also shoutout to Lily Abdel-Miguid ‘26 and Luna Yang ‘26 for playing twice so all Taft players could have at least one match to start the afternoon. Gritty!

Luna Yang 11-7, 11-4, 11-3 T
Grace Kim 11-2, 5-11, 11-8, 11-8 T

Lily Abdel-Meguid 11-4, 11-4, 11-2 T
After a quick five minute break from our opener vs. Taft, the Squash Sisters bounced right back with some great play against Loomis who admittedly were missing some key players. MVP of the contest goes to Lilly McMillen ‘27 who, despite a quick fall and possible slight ankle twist, got back up and finished her match in style, only losing three points total. That’s rugged stuff! Also shoutout to Clara Covill ‘26 who, on her debut day as a member of the squad, played an extra match against Loomis’s tenth player. She was an awesome sport throughout and provided plenty of humor in the classic Covill fashion. The team looks to keep some momentum going on Wednesday as we host Capital Squash at home at Kohn.
