Martlets Fall to Berkshire
In the second game of the season, the Martlets faced a deep and talented Berkshire squad. After a quick score off the tip, Berkshire jumped into full court pressure, which affected Westminster’s ability to get good looks on offense. The turnovers generated by Berkshire’s pressure led to several scores in transition as the Bears jumped out to an early lead. As the game progressed, Westminster improved their ability to break through the press and found a few open looks in the soft spots of Berkshire’s zone. Delia Lockwood ‘26 battled hard on the interior and Eva Rodgers ‘25 cashed in from the three-point line to give the Martlets some much needed points. Parker Perillo ‘26 also provided a nice spark off the bench and scored her first points of the season. In the second half, the Martlets continued to execute their offensive sets, but Berkshire extended their lead with stymie defense and strong three point shooting. Despite the disappointing result, the team will look to capitalize on the lessons learned from today’s game as they prepare for their holiday tournament at Ethel Walker next week.
