Martlets Shutout Canterbury

The Martlets traveled to New Milford this Saturday to play against the Saints of Canterbury. A windy fall day, Westminster came ready to play. Less than six minutes into the game, they were able to capitalize on a corner kick from Callie Graby ‘28. Graby sailed a ball into the box, and with the mix of wind and the power behind the kick, the ball bounced off a Canterbury player into the net. Just five minutes later, Olivia Martin ‘27 served the ball back into the Saint’s box after it had been cleared. Maya Goddard ‘26 was there to receive the ball and place it into the back of the Saint net. The Martlets entered the second half up 2-0, but had an additional goal left to score. About halfway through the second half, Hannah Coccarro ‘26 took charge and drilled a ball past the hands of the Canterbury keeper to put the Martlets up 3-0. The score remained 3-0 up until the final whistle. The team looks forward to their next match against the Rhinos of Taft. The game will be played away this Wednesday, October 30th, at 2:30 PM.
