Martlets Fall to Rumsey

We gave a solid effort today but couldn’t match up with Rumsey Hall, by far our strongest opponent to date. The visitors got off the a quick start and scored in the first five minutes after controlling the ball for 90% of the initial possessions. They tallied two more to take a 3-0 halftime lead. Thomas Merrill ‘28 kept us close with some exceptional goalkeeping, but we were generally overmatched by Rumsey’s superior spacing, ballhandling, and agility. We rallied a bit in the second half and made a few nice runs at the goal, with winger Hyunwoo Chung ‘28 scoring our lone goal of the game off of a nice feed from Caden Weichselbaumer ‘28. Max Hong ‘28 and Winston Caracappa’28 gave us great efforts from the center striker position, Carsten Matthews ‘28 was all over the field as usual, and Sonny Darnowksi ‘28 and Jack Perkins ‘28 played their usual solid defense at center back. Tomorrow is community service day for us, but we’ll get back on the practice field Friday and do our best to bounce back in our final home games next week.
