Martlets Fall on the Road

On Wednesday, the Martlets made the trip to Lakeville for a matchup against Hotchkiss. The Bearcats had a significant size advantage and quickly established themselves inside the paint, collecting 18 offensive rebounds in the first half. The Martlets struggled to box out and Hotchkiss took advantage of these second chance opportunities to build out an early lead. On the offensive end of the floor, Kaitlyn Buda ‘27 continued to create good scoring opportunities and Eva Rodgers ‘25 cashed in from range. In the second half, in dire need of rebounds, Melody El-Amin Stewart ‘27 proved to be up for the task and made an immediate impact off the bench. Gianna Monaco ‘27 also took charge on the offensive end of the floor, putting together one of her best halves of the season and scoring 7 points. In the closing minutes, the Martlets had two highlights as Melody scored her first points of the season, drawing cheers from the Hotchkiss student section, and Charlotte Tyler ‘28 earned her first points off a nice transition layup. Despite the loss, both teams displayed good sportsmanship and maintained high energy until the final buzzer. The Martlets have a quick turnaround as they prepare for Taft who will be coming to town for a Friday night game on the Hill.
