Martlets Finish with a W

The Martlets finished their final game of the 2024 fall season with a win against the Griffins of Pomfret. Knowing that they only had these final 80 minutes together on the pitch, the squad knew that they would make the most of their time. The Martlets came out strong; they possessed well and looked to play quickly to feet. Despite their solid play, the team lacked the urgency to reach the Griffin net and shoot. With the score 0-0 heading into the half, Westminster discussed ways in which they could improve in the upcoming 40. Finally, the Martlets were able to capitalize on their chances. The first goal came from a corner kick taken by Callie Graby ‘28. Graby sailed the ball into the Griffin box to Caroline Gauvin ‘27 for the header. Shortly thereafter, Maya Goddard ‘26 scored the second and final goal of the game. From 30 yards out, Goddard saw her opportunity and ripped the ball into the Griffin net. With this win, the Martlets wrap up their regular season with a 7-5-4 record. The coaches would like to thank each and every one of the girls for their dedication, consistent hard work, and heart this season. A big thank you to our seniors for their leadership in creating a strong team culture and foundation for this team; we all wish you the best of luck as you close out your high school soccer careers. Go Martlets!
