Frantz Batoh
In a thrilling match at Taft School, the Martlets emerged triumphant over Taft School with a final score of 2-1. The game kicked off with the Martlets displaying their dominance, controlling the ball and creating numerous scoring opportunities. The first half saw an early lead for the Martlets, with Eliza Reilly '27 scoring a powerful shot just ten minutes into the game, leaving the Taft goalkeeper helpless. Mya Polastry '27 continued the momentum for the Martlets shortly after, doubling the lead with a well-placed shot that found the back of the net. By halftime, the Martlets were firmly in command with a 2-0 lead, their confidence soaring as they headed into the break.

The second half brought a different challenge for Westminster. Despite their strong start, the Martlets struggled to convert several golden opportunities into goals, missing chance after chance to extend their lead. This inability to finish ignited a flicker of hope for Taft, who capitalized on a moment of uncertainty in the Martlets' defense. With about fifteen minutes left in the game, Taft got on the scoreboard, cutting the lead to 2-1 and putting pressure on Westminster. The final minutes were tense as Taft pressed hard for an equalizer. However, the Martlets' GRIT & Grace award goes to Suri Dong, whose strength and determination shone through. With remarkable strength and focus, Dong effectively quelled Taft's attempts to level the score, making crucial defensive plays that helped secure the victory.

Despite the challenge, Westminster's resolute midfield, led by Dong's impressive display, held firm until the final whistle. The Martlets celebrated a hard-fought 2-1 victory, demonstrating their resilience and skill throughout the match. It was a tough battle, but the Martlets' strength and spirit reinforced their standing as a competitive force.
