Martlets Defeat Kent

On a rainy Wednesday in mid January the Squash Sisters visited Kent and their amazing facility for some hard fought squash. Clover Cooper ‘26 got us off on the best note possible with some feathery touch and smart shotmaking at the #2 position, while Lilly McMillen ‘27 also cemented a straight set win at #6. She’s been working hard over the last few practices and was great to see the consistency and hustle, not to mention she played twice since Kent had an extra player at #10. While facing some healthy challenges towards the middle of their matches, Lucy Morton ‘26 and Grace Kim ‘25 both got through their battles with excellent final games. While Wynne Prichett ‘28 and Luna Yang ‘26 continued their own great runs, the grit and grace award winner on the day goes to Blair Li ‘28. After seeming in control for the first two games, her opponent showed some great grit of her own to win games three and four by the slimmest of margins. Instead of shrinking at the occasion Blair embrace the nerves and the ugly parts of competition and grabbed the deciding game 11-9. It was a great way to close the day, showing yet again that Coach Cary is always right if ever in doubt or not feeling confident, move your feet! The squad will have a quick turnaround with Deerfield on Saturday.
