Martlets Defeat AOF

In a thrilling Junior Varsity matchup, the Martlets of Westminster School defended their home court with relentless energy, dominating from start to finish against Avon Old Farms. From the opening tip, Westminster came out with high intensity, setting the tone for the entire game.
Ethan Hernandez led the charge with an explosive performance, scoring 22 points, including several clutch three-pointers that energized the crowd. He was complemented by Connor Gray, who added 11 points, also with multiple three-pointers, showcasing his shooting range and sharp basketball IQ. Finn Williams, with 10 points, also made his mark beyond the arc, hitting several key shots to keep the momentum firmly in Westminster’s favor.
On the defensive side, Connor Gray, Finn Williams, and Calvin Bixby were standouts. Their tenacity in guarding Avon Old Farms' players resulted in multiple steals, stifling the opposition’s offensive flow and fueling the Martlets’ fast breaks. Calvin Bixby, in particular, played a crucial role on both ends of the court, contributing with 4 points and locking down on defense.
In the paint, Michael Basich and Hudson Black provided a strong presence on the boards, securing multiple rebounds to limit Avon Old Farms' second-chance opportunities. Hudson Black added 4 points to the scoreboard, while Cole Hadden, who worked tirelessly throughout the game, contributed a point, showcasing his all-around effort and determination.
Although the game was well in hand for Westminster, Stephen Lau and Jacoby Jones also contributed, adding 2 points each and maintaining the high energy and unselfish play that defined the team’s approach. Cole Hadden’s hustle throughout the game was evident, and his contributions were a key part of the Martlets’ balanced performance.
In the end, the Martlets walked away with a commanding victory, having demonstrated a well-rounded, high-energy game that kept the pressure on Avon Old Farms from beginning to end. With standout performances from Hernandez, Gray, Williams, and Bixby, Westminster proved that they were a force to be reckoned with this season.
