Martlets Fall to Kent

The Martlets played a talented and competitive squad from Kent on Saturday and came out on the short end of the 7-0 score. Playing alongside varsity allowed us to have two varsity players play with us to even out the numbers between the teams, the martlets were competitive in many of the games and matches but were only able to pull out a few games in the matches. Playing at #3, Mathias Seber ‘26 played a very strong first two games splitting 12-10 decisions, before his opponent shifted to a second gear to win the remaining two games at 11-8 and 11-4. Similarly, Will Henry ‘26 dropped his first game 8-11 before rebounding to take the second game 11-6. His opponent also shifted to another gear to win the remaining two games. Many of the other Martlets took at least one game to overtime including Connor Scollans ‘26, William Jones ‘28, Crosby Cutler ‘27 and Sam Jiang ‘28(at exhibition). The Martlets also played some very competitive exhibition matches. Alessio Suarez ‘28 played a great match for the entire time, falling 8-11 in the fifth game after splitting the first four. Just like Wednesday, Zach Li ‘27 won quickly and efficiently in his exhibition match. The martlets return to action on Wednesday when we travel to Pomfret.
