Martlets Fall to K-O

After cheering the JV team on to a thrilling victory, the Martlets were excited to take the court and tip-off against Kingswood. However, the Wyverns were ready to defend their home court and got off to a fast start. Their speed and athleticism forced the Martlets into several early turnovers, generated fastbreak layups, and allowed the home team to score 20 points in the first quarter. In spite of the opponent’s defensive pressure, Lauren Neuman ‘25 looked to settle down our offense while Delia Lockwood ‘26 and Kaitlyn Buda ‘27 battled in the post, earning some precious points to get Westminster on the scoreboard. In the second half, the Martlets looked to attack the basket with greater frequency against the physical KO defense and were rewarded with foul calls. Kaitlyn shot 100% from the free throw line and ended the night as our leading scorer (10 points). Lauren also found some good looks in the second half, adding 6 points and Gianna Monaco ‘27 hit a 3-pointer to add to the scoring. The Martlets will have another chance to face off against Kingswood later in the season and with better offensive execution, we can anticipate a more competitive contest.
