Martlets Win Opener

The Martlets started the 2024-2025 season on the road at Miss Halls. While navigating some first game jitters on the offensive end of the floor, Westminster relied on strong defensive pressure to set the tone for the game. Gianna Monaco ’27 and Lauren Neuman ’25 led the charge, their relentless pressure and quick hands forced several turnovers and created extra possessions for the Martlets. Kaitlyn Buda ’27 also provided a critical spark off the bench, chipping in 6 points in the second quarter and helping Westminster enter halftime with a lead. In the second half, the Martlets doubled down on their defensive pressure and started finding their groove on offense. Captains Eva Rodgers ’25 and Lauren Neuman ’25 caught fire from beyond the arc and helped stretch the lead while Delia Lockwood ’26 battled hard down low for rebounds and post positioning. Our third senior captain, Lilly Murphy ’25, also came alive in the second half — scoring 14 of her 16 points along with 10 rebounds to earn her first double-double of the season. Today’s win was the result of a full team effort and helped set the tone for the year ahead. The Martlets will be back in action Wednesday when we host Berkshire for our home opener!
