Martlets Fall to Choate

In their first game of a three-game week, the Martlets faced off against a talented Choate team. Westminster came out of the gates with great energy, playing strong defense and limiting Choate to only 8 points in the first quarter. Lauren Neuman ‘25 helped set the tone with several steals and pushing the pace in transition. Kaitlyn Buda ‘27 also established herself in the post, securing valuable rebounds, drawing fouls, and getting good looks at the rim. Choate’s length and physicality affected our scoring opportunities, but the Martlets continued to battle for rebounds and second chance looks. In the second quarter, the Boars found some open 3-point looks and began to stretch their lead. Gianna Monaco ‘27 provided a spark off the bench and found some driving lanes to attack the Choate defense. However, the Martlets struggled to find open looks and began turning the ball over, leading to fast break points for our opponent as they built out a large lead. In the closing minutes, freshman Lily O’Callaghan ‘28 earned her spot on the highlight reel, earning her first points of the season with a nice corner jump shot! The Martlets will look to rebound on Friday for a match up against KO.
