Martlets Fall to Salisbury

The boys traveled to Salisbury today to play a talented and deep squad from the Knights. The Martlets struggled up and down the ladder today, dropping 5 of the 7 matches in consecutive 3 games. Will Henry ‘26 played a very competitive match at #2, splitting the opening games in extended decisions (12-10 and 11-9). He continued to play good squash in the remainder of the match, dropping two more competitive games at 11-7,11-7. Sam Jiang ‘28 also forced his match at #7 to a fourth game. After quickly dropping the first two games, he rallied to build a 10-5 lead in his third game which he eventually closed out 11-9. Unfortunately, he could not build on this momentum and dropped the fourth game. At exhibition matches, the martlets faired better with Alessio Suarez ‘28 playing some good squash and falling in a competitive 5 game encounter. Kudos to Chip Genung ‘25 and Zach Li ‘27 for their two impressive wins, in 4 and 3 games respectively.
Despite the score, the Martlets fought hard and played well against stronger opponents. The Martlets return to Kohn Squash Pavillion on Saturday when we take on Kent at 2:30.
