General Summary
Westminster School has an exciting opportunity for an Equipment Manager on its Simsbury, CT campus.  Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Equipment Manager oversees the maintenance, care, and efficient operation of all athletic equipment used by Westminster School. This is a 10-month per year, full-time position (mid-August through mid-June). The Equipment Manager will be expected to work Monday through Friday as well as all game days, including Saturdays.
 
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage all equipment and uniform needs for all athletic teams. Order uniforms and equipment as needed.
  • Maintain inventory of all uniforms, sports equipment, and all other items related to the Athletic Department.  Communicate and coordinate with faculty coaches at beginning of each athletic season to hand out student uniforms. Provide necessary sports equipment such as balls, bags, pinneys, reversibles, etc.
  • Coordinate and maintain inventory of end-of-season collection of uniforms and equipment; report all items not returned to the Business Office for billing. Create and maintain accurate spreadsheet of unreturned inventory in a timely manner and provide updates to the business office.
  • Wash and label all uniforms and undergarments stored in upper equipment room.
  • Organize all game day uniforms. Distribute directly or prepare for pick up by coaches.
  • Communicate and coordinate with Director of Athletics and vendors for ordering of uniforms, sports equipment, coach clothing, and all other items related to the athletic department.  
  • Manage basketball courts including bleachers and playing surfaces during the winter season; includes dry and wet mopping courts. Maintain old squash court area.
  • In conjunction with Grounds Department, lead efforts on field set up and take down in fall and spring. Rake and line baseball and softball fields as needed on Saturdays. Verify with the Grounds crew that team storage boxes are on the fields at the beginning of each season. Have nets available for replacement of soccer, lacrosse, hockey, etc.
  • Prepare locker rooms for home and visiting teams. Create door signage welcoming visiting teams and assign appropriate locker rooms. Provide keys to locker rooms for visiting coaches.
 
Job Qualifications
  • Three to five years of related experience required.
  • Associates Degree in related field preferred.
  • Proficient with Google Suite or related software to complete and maintain records.
  • Basic understanding of or ability to quickly learn the equipment and facilities to be maintained.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to work independently and anticipate department needs. Demonstrated proactive mindset required.
  • Must be positive and get along with visitors, vendors, students, and colleagues.
