The Junior Varsity Girls Tennis team provides an opportunity for experienced tennis players to hone their skills through hard practice and tough competition. Many of our Varsity Team players spent time on the Junior Varsity Team ladder improving their game. Players are encouraged to push beyond and to expand their comfort zones – by practicing both singles and doubles; by learning to play both aggressively and conservatively; and by cultivating a fearlessness that allows them to try new shots and hit the ball harder.
With great competition from within the program and from our Founders League competitors, players are pushed to improve both their technical abilities and their tactical approach to the game. Of course, throughout the season – in practice and during matches – the highest priority is to play with both grit and grace. We play hard, have high self-standards, and treat our opponents with the utmost respect.
The beautiful Briggs, Gow and Haynes Tennis Complex, featuring 12 courts, provides an idyllic setting for all five of Westminster’s competitive boys’ and girls’ teams. In the summer of 2013, Westminster's hard courts were resurfaced to match the blue courts of the U.S. Open.
